You have many alternatives.
- Seré / Soy [muy] exigente con ustedes (formal) / vosotros (informal) ...
- Espero grandes cosas de ustedes / vosotros ...
Tengo altas expectativas en ustedes / vosotros ...
- ... porque son (ustedes) / sois (vosotros) estudiantes inteligentes.
- ... porque son / sois alumnos inteligentes.
- ... porque son / sois buenos estudiantes.
And, of course, yours is good too:
- Soy [muy] exigente porque [ustedes] son estudiantes inteligentes.

A few English corrections and suggestions:
Please advise me in Spanish.
How would one teacher say the following to his/her students:
I have high standards/expectations/hopes for you as you are intelligent students.
One option is, "Tengo altas esperanzas porque son estudiantes intelligentes."
Any advise from a native speaker is appreciated.
