What is a jump drive? - gringojrf, Nov 1, 2013
A jump drive or flash drive is a small device that hold computer files or memory. You insert it into the computer port for portable drives - dallady, Nov 1, 2013
Ah, thank you, no idea what it may be called. - annierats, Nov 1, 2013
It is external memory that can easily be jumped from one device to another. - rogspax, Nov 1, 2013

Margherite, thanks for the image. I´ve never seen this USB key and especially with 32 GB. Amazing! - - 005faa61, Nov 1, 2013

I have heard la memoria usb, and sometimes, somewhat redundantly, una memoria usb externa.

In fact, I think it was even in the latest textbook our school used. I believe it´s a pretty commonly accepted and used term.

Hay las memorias usb en muchas formas.

?? Yes, what is that? - annierats, Nov 1, 2013
Computers or cars? - annierats, Nov 1, 2013
these days, both. It´s just a synonym for a USB memory stick, from the type of non volatile memory inside of them, which is called flash memory. - rogspax, Nov 1, 2013

Why would someone not want to know the name of a common daily device unless they are fluent? Should he skip spoon, knife, and fork too? - rogspax, Nov 1, 2013
Another patience tester. Ugh! - 0095ca4c, Nov 1, 2013
And if we don´t know the difference between "tu" and "tú", or even when "tú" isn´t necessary, maybe we shouldn´t answer at all - 005faa61, Nov 1, 2013
Exactly Margherite and Julian. I almost made Julian´s comment, and then wimped out, not out of decency, but because I make too many mistakes myself. I¨m glad he did though. - rogspax, Nov 1, 2013
Sorry to see anyone get dumped on, but PC, I think you asked for this one. - Mainer, Nov 1, 2013
I don't care what any of you think. I get angry when people post in this forum "how do you say (insert obsure word) ? when you can't event string together a basic sentence in Spanish. Learn basic words before you learn a thing like "jump drive" - Politically_Correct1, Nov 2, 2013
People should learn words as they need them. I really doubt dallady woke up one morning and said "what's a jump drive in spanish?". He probably ran into the word in his daily life and wanted a Spanish equivalent. I don't think "jump drive" is really obscu - HackerKing, Nov 2, 2013

Okay now that I know what it is I can respond. Here in Baja it is simply called U.S.B. or flash.
