I just put my glasses on and reread the subtitle. It said "repica" not "replica" Please ignore this question.

Okay I'm watching a movie and there is a bell ringing in the background and the subtitles say: La campana replica.

I have never heard that word used in that manner so I looked it up and this is not a usage that is covered by the translators here on SD.

I would have used sonar.

So can anyone tell me if this is just a badly written subtitle or is this a common usage of replicar.

I am not clear if you are clear.... smile

Hence...

repicar = (to) toll (to sound)

replicar = to reply

What you heard or read might be on context, unless it is, in fact, an error.

I didn't have my glasses on and read replica but when I put the glasses on I saw it was really repica so it was my error that was confusing me. - gringojrf, Oct 26, 2013
