el camino (he walked, or the road?)

el camino (he walked, or the road?)

To say "he walked" in the preterit it would be él caminó, right? From caminar? Then, to say the road is el camino, without the accents, correct? If I'm understanding correctly, the only difference here is the accents. Are these pronounced differently or do they sound the same spoken?

They don't sound the same, because the tilde/accent tells you were to put the stress .

In a sentence you would probably avoid putting the two together: Caminó por el sendero/ anduvo por el camino or, if needs must: caminó por el camino , it works fine.

Wow thank you for answering so quickly! I'm not concerned about putting them together...just practicing the preterit and confusing myself. :) - lil_tortuga, Oct 21, 2013
de nada. I often have coffee and a look at SD at this time of night! You're going on well. - annierats, Oct 21, 2013
