curiosamente ( koo-ree-oh-sah-mehn'- teh )

(adverb) curiously; curiously enough, strangely enough

Sylyon1976 is the official corrector for the Spanish sentences. Please correct your posts according to her suggestions. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

1. Un muchacho en el café me estuvo mirando curiosamente, y resulta que es que tenía puestas dos medias desparejadas.

A guy in the café was looking at me curiously, and it turns out it's because I was wearing mismatched socks.

2. A mi tío le gusta mucho bromear, pero curiosamente hoy está bastante callado.

My uncle likes to joke around a lot, but he's very quiet today, strangely enough.

Los crocodrilos son reptiles peligrosísimos, pero curiosamente hay gente que los prefiere como mascotas a otros que son más afectuosos.

The crocodiles are most dangerous reptiles, yet, oddly enough, there are people who prefer them as pets than other more affectionate ones.

Curiosasmente, parece que a los conejos les gustan hacer competiciones de saltos, como si fueran caballos. Es un deporte mas económico que la equitación pero le falta el encanto.

Strangely enough it seems that rabbits enjoy taking part in show-jumping competitions, as if they were horses. The sport is more economical than riding, but a bit less glamorous.
