Hello everyone,

I wonder if you could recommend some easy Spanish books (fiction or non-fiction). My vocabulary is about 1500 words.

Thank you very much in advance.

Any of the "Leer en Espanol" series from the University of Salamanca. Level 1 (for a vocabulary of up to 400 words) and Level 2 (up to 700 words) are both good for beginners. It goes up to Level 6, which is up to 2000 words. I've read these books myself and found them quite useful.

Another good series is "Venga a Leer" which also has six levels (0 to 5).

Europeanbookshop.com

(Avoid the so called "Easy-Reader" series though. I've personally found them anything but easy.)

There is a series called Lola Lago, detective. It's for learners but it's easy and well written with lots of useful expressions and good explanations. It has Cd's to listen to the text as well.

I just took a look at these on Amazon and bought the first one. Thanks for turning me on to them. - AnnRon, May 4, 2014

Interestingly, one of my recommendations is any of the Dan Brown books in Spanish. They flow very nicely, and the vocabulary is not terribly challenging. The same could be said if the Harry Potter series. Don't restrict yourself too much, although I also agree with the other suggestions offered. Good luck!
