How do you say "To go grocery shopping" in spanish?
I know "to go shopping" is "ir de compras" and that "groceries" is "comestibles", but I'm a little confused because I heard "ir de mercado" as "to go grocery shopping". Is that the best way to say it?

If the grocery shopping is done at a supermarket, we say: ir al mercado / ir al super / ir al supermercado / ir a (market name).

If the grocery shopping is just for a few items at a small store, we say: ir a la tienda.

SpanishDict.com translator says:

--Para ir de compras

--Para ir de supermercado

and

--Ir compra de la tienda de comestibles

You can also use the phrase, "hacer las compras".
