Thanking on behalf of a group

Question

I'm aware that to thank someone you use por + infinitive. "Gracias por compartir la comida," for example.

Would someone mind helping me elaborate? My desired sentence will translate from "Thanks for informing us."

My sense is that it is "Gracias por actualizarnos," but I am not sure.

Avisar is often used here.

I think your sentence works fine.

What's wrong with:

actualizar = bring up to date

inform = informar

?

Both informar and actualizar would be fine. My question is how to place the verb into the context I described above. - TheStatelessMan, Oct 7, 2013
