El texto completo quedaría de la siguiente manera:

Hola, me llamo Claudia. Yo soy estudiante. Son las dos y media de la tarde y mis compañeros de clase y yo estamos en la clase de español. Mi amiga Sandra es de honduras y habla español muy bien; por eso, ella no está en la clase. Hoy no escucho bien a la profesora porque estoy enferma. !Necesito descansar en casa!

Yo soy estudiante.

Correct

Here you are classifying yourself as "a student." That is you're saying something that describes you as a person. Therefore, the verb "ser" is called for, and you have correctly conjugated the verb into the 1st person singular form of the present indicative.

está las dos y media de la tarde

Incorrect

Here you are referring to what hour of the day it is. Rethink this answer, and try to consider what verb you might use to ask somebody the time in Spanish.

mis (my) compañeros de clase y yo estoy en la clase de español.

Incorrect

Be careful here. You have used the correct verb for describing where you and your friends are situated; however, you have chosen the wrong conjugation to describe you and your friends. In English, it might be the same as if you had said something like, "My classmates and I is in Spanish class." Clearly, the correct verb conjugation in English would be "are" rather than "is." See if you can figure out the correct conjugation for the Spanish verb.

Mi amiga (friend) Sandra es de Honduras y habla español muy bien;

Correct

You are commenting on the type of person that she is (i.e. Hondurian), and any time we wish to describe the origin of something, we use the verb "ser."

por eso (therefore), ella no es en la clase.

Incorrect

Like question number three above, we are trying to refer to your friend's present location. For this, we need the verb "estar."

Hoy no escucho bien a la profesora porque (yo) soy enferma.

Incorrect

We must assume that we are not intending to define yourself as a sickly person, but instead are attempting to relate that you feel sick today. If you are trying to define yourself, or rather, to describe what you are (i.e. a sickly person) then go with the verb ser. On the other hand if you are simply trying to take stock of your health at the present moment, or rather, to describe how you are (i.e. feeling ill), then go with the verb estar.

Go back and try the ones you missed, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I take it that you were only given the infinitives to work with.

  1. Correct - soy
  2. Incorrect - use ser with time and since dos is plural the answer is son.
  3. Incorrect - my friends and I make "we" so the answer is estamos
  4. correct
  5. Incorrect - use estar for location the answer is está
  6. Incorrect - illness is temporary so use estar, the answer is estoy.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
