Gustar and verbs like gustar..
as an assignment in school I am supposed to write a paragraph using Gustar and verbs like Gustar (i.e facinar, odiar, encantar etc). This was the sample paragraph we were given-
A mi me gustan los elefantes, pero no me gustan los gatos para nada. Los elefantes son mejores que otros animales. A mi hermano le interesa mucha la biología porque es muy interesante. A mis padres les encanta bailar el merengue porque es divertido. Mi amigo Paco le fascinan las ciencias. él piensa que las ciencias son más importantes que el arte.
We are supposed to use at least 4 comparisons.
Any ideas? please help..

By ' comparisons ' i'm guessing you will need to compare one thing to another like in the example paragraph.Or describe a topic/subject you enjoy and give a reason by saying ' porque es ........ ' to make a comparison between two things you like doing you will need to use some ' Extension/Contrast ' connectives like ;
Sin embargo - However
Pero - But
A veces - Sometimes
Normalmente - Normally
También - Also
Asimismo - Likewise
A pesar de - Regardless
Aunque - Though
Al contrario - On the contrary
For example : Me gusta hugar al futbol.Sin embargo prefiero mirar la televisión.
I like to play football. However, i prefer to watch television.
This is a simple sentence where i'm comparing two things i enjoy doing. Likewise what you don't enjoy doing.
Hope this helps Sparkle123.
Just write about the things that you really like (are pleasing to you) and that you don't like and the things that others, such as you brother like and dislike, . The key to understanding verbs like gustar is that in English we say "I like (something)" e.g., "I like Mexican food." In Spanish we never say it that way. In Spanish we say that something is pleasing or pleases us e.g., "Me gusta la comida mexicana." Note that in the English sentence, "I" is the subject of the sentence. In the Spanish sentence, the subject is what is doing the pleasing, Mexican food, and "me" is the indirect object, thus the use of the indirect object pronoun,"me." Do a web search for verbs like gustar and you will find a long list of those verbs.
