rac1 couldn't have said it any better. Not only can you learn Spanish, you can have fun doing so. You can meet many helpful, friendly people, and we'll help you in any way that we can. Just like rac said, it has helped me a considerable amount.

So welcome!

I would say no. But it is a great place to start. How far you can get depends on your dedication, but you will need more than one resource. For example, you can get questions answered, learn grammar and vocabulary here on this site, but you will need to look elsewhere for listening and speaking skills.

Hopefully, not for long. I think they're working on something along those lines. - rac1, Oct 1, 2013

Hi Kevansja, welcome to the forum. You certainly can. It depends on how much you try and learn. It has helped me a great deal. There is this area, of course, for asking questions and there are other resources as well. Under the "Learn tab" at the top of the page, you will find another tab, "Learn Spanish", and then one that says, Spanish grammar." We also have "Flashcards" under the Learn tab.

Those are some things to get you started. Glad you are here with us.

Have fun learning Spanish!

In my opinion, you might be asking a bit more than a site like this can offer. While this site might provide a useful resource to help you work towards your goals, it is unlikely that you will become a master of the Spanish language simply by using this site.

Learning to write well in Spanish (as with any language) typically requires a profuse amount of quality reading over a span of years in order to attune oneself to the many and variegated patterns, structures and rhythms inherent to a decent piece of prose.

Likewise, mastering the art of speaking requires us to not only absorb a great deal of the spoken word, but to also repeatedly fit what we hear into meaningful and useful contexts. Learning Spanish from this site alone, even when supplemented with Spanish language audio resources such as videos and audio books, will not in and of itself lead to proficiency as a speaker (again, this is only my opinion). Instead, to become fully capable as a speaker requires a much broader array of discourse than can be offered by a site such as this.
