Yes, I think that is where much confusion starts for new students of Spanish.
It is somewhat between, and to my gringo ear, much closer to our B than our V, but still between. If you can just think of the Bs and Vs as slightly softened Bs, nudged a little towards Vs, with the lips a little bit open, preventing the burst of air expelled with an English B, you´ll be pretty close.

Bien is pronounced bi-En. The stress is on the second syllable. Muy has the stress on M. The time spent on saying muy is the same as on bien.
I've never heard B's pronounced as V's but I've certainly heard V's pronounced as B's. Anyway, I agree with lizarey.
I pronounce it "bee-ehn"
