Ray : Let's toast him ( and maybe roast him)
We all love Ray. He's at the top of the lists for good reason. Why not post a little something in his honor. Let's really embarrass him.Tell him why you love him, share a memorable post or answer he gave, or even share a comment he may have made that stuck with you.So have at it, Toast or Roast !( Oh let's do it before he gets back .he's gonna have my head for this).!

I love your sense of humor, Ray. When I am joking, you always understand the punchline. I am going to find two of the funniest posts that you have written that I have seen. I love your "Quotes" post where you ask opinions. Not everyone agrees, but that is what it is about. I don't know very much Spanish yet, but sometimes I am able to write a poem for my answer. You have always encouraged me along with another dear friend, to keep writing. That means a lot to me, because I had writer's block for several years before joining SD. My Spanish will get better because I have someone helping me everyday. You are one of the reasons I go to this site everyday, just to see something new that you might have written.
Ray's funny posts:
This was Ray's response to the incredibly long list of ways to format a post.
You have done a highly commendable job here izanoni , it is well laid out and easy
to follow , to understand and execute the actions that you describe is I think for
me uumm how shall I put it , Flamin impossible, I thought Spanish was difficult
but compared to this it is a piece of cake. I think I want to go home now I feel faint
and mummy is calling.
This is brilliant ! And it should be given the highest praise possible ,well done Iza
I laughed so hard after reading this.

Ode to Rey Ray
There was a young man from Melbourne
Who decided to travel and learn
He hired driver and truck
But he ran out of luck
When his chauffeur did take a wrong turn.
They arrived in Sara wak,
But it was late and pitch black with nary a star in the sky
He jumped from the truck and exclaimed
Rotten luck, so tired and so hungry am I.
The driver named Sam had packed one can of Spam
And he said he would cook it for Ray
But Ray was annoyed
With the man he employed
For stupidly losing their way.
He didnt want Spam,
He was yearning for lamb
With mint sauce and baby green peas
So he shouted at Sam
Youd better scram!
Or find me some food that will please'.
Little Sam was quite sickly
But he though very quickly
And said How stupid am I?
He had packed some tequila,
Some beer battered gila
And remembered a bottle of rye.
Young Ray was ecstatic
And became quite pragmatic
As his lips were wetted with drink
He gave Sam a hug
And his face appeared smug
As the liquor was making him think.
He was dreaming of boating
And idly floating
Around in a warm blue lagoon
When along came a fella
With a doggie named Bella
Whod been born and raised in Rangoon.
When Bella saw Ray
She wanted to play
And swim in the South China Sea
Although Ray was not steady
He was quite ready
To swim with Bella you see
He wanted a chum who wasnt as dumb
As Sam, his chauffeur from Dundee.

In my opinion, Rey Ray is one in a million. He can make me laugh, make me cry, make me feel foolish and make me feel like I'm the most intelligent woman that ever walked the earth lol. Sometimes we agree, especially on the intelligent part, hehehe, sometimes we disagree, but always I think, there is a mutual understanding and respect for one another. When I've been down of late, Ray always has an encouraging word. Recently he sent me a photo of a dog that he takes swimming when he is in Sarawak. Her name is 'Bella' and Ray thought she would make a nice girlfriend for my dog that swims with me. They are both 'sweeties'.

Love ya baby. You're one in a million!

Ray,
You've been my internet mate (and here in the States the best word is "buddy"). We have both come a long way in life and hope to enjoy many more years ("God grant you many years!" - a song your Greek neighbors should know well). You seem a man who values compassion and therefore have truly found the pearl of great price! A man (person) of compassion can live in the spiritual and material world because he is the bridge between them. Keep sharing yourself with us and enjoy this tribute.

I'm not a Buddhist but sometimes the Dalai Lama says it best!

Thanks for all you do for us Rey Ray, you are a friend and a treasure more precious than gold, you are priceless and you will never grow old. You have the ability to touch our hearts in a great way we will always love you.
Ray is an optimist.I like to consider myself a realist. In comparison however, truth be revealed I am a pessimist .Ray has consistently inspired me and so many others over the years. He makes us laugh and makes us think, sometimes he takes us back. Most of the time he takes us by surprise.May the force ever be with with you.
What Ray is doing in Borneo.

Ray, why are you always traipsing off when we really need you? But seriously, I really appreciate your wit and your warmness and generosity with you knowledge of the languages. As they said in the beer commercials a few years ago "I love you man." And I love your country including the unique hazards on the golf courses.

I love you mate you made the best post in the world and your games are very good. But your my mate! Love tick
I have to respond to this "Troast " . For he hath disgraced me and hindered me
half a million , laughed at my losses , mocked my gains , and all this from a man
in a tin helmet and a black cloak," may the sauce be with you indeed".
I have said many times before that what we all have here is very precious ,
being a disparate group of people , most , if not all of us are very competitive ,
we are all programmed to succeed and " get -on" and yet we are able to abandon
these drives in order to help , and in many cases to subjugate our egos in favour
of friendship and compassion . Thank you heliotropeman and all you beautiful
people for giving me a moment in time to cherish and relish .
May you all be well and happy and free from suffering .

Hey Ray! I'm looking forward to next week's translation exercise: "A man can have no fruit in the basket that holds jewels, and jams, and little things that grandma put together one fine summer evening, yet henceforth be the one who brings the sunshine to wayfarers in their travels and milk to maidens that churn butter." I know I use that old saying all the time in my day-to-day speech, and it would be good to know how to say it in Spanish.
where did he go to? what happened to him?
I have Ray as a player. I think I know what "The Man" likes.
Tengo Ray un conquistador. Creo que sé lo que "El Hombre" le gusta.

Like Helio said, You're at the top for a reason. Good Man.
