How do I write dates in Spanish?

I am supposed to write out the following dates, however, none of the ones I tried are correct. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
"1/1/1777": el primero de enero de mil setecientos sesenta y siete
"28/8/1994": el veintiocho de agosto de mil novecientos noventa y cuatro

Format your date like this: El 28 de septiembre (today)
