Imagine that you phone to somebody's house and somebody answers . You ask the question " ¿Está Rosa ? " . What do you mean when you say " ¿Está Rosa ? " . Do you mean " Is that Rosa ? " or " Is that Rosa's House ? "

Estar means (in this case) to be as in to be here, to be there, to be somewhere.
- ¿Está Rosa? is short for ¿Está Rosa ahí? = Is Rosa there (at home)?.
