Comprehending

Question

With daily practice, about how long does it take before one begins to understand Spanish. I've been listening to the Spanish Channel and everything seems to be spoken quicker than I'm able to absorb.

Con la práctica diaria, sobre cuanto esto toma antes de que uno comience a entender el español. He estado escuchando al Canal español y todo parece ser dicho más rápido que soy capaz de absorber.

Think about it this way: How long did it take you to be able to understand fluently spoken English? Next, can you now understand all the words sung in a song? These thoughts should give you some idea.

If fluency means to understand all the wordssung in a song, then I am not fluent not even in my own language. ;-D - chileno, Sep 22, 2013

Most people not living in a country where it´s spoken around them constantly, even when working hard, need a year or two.

Choosing stuff a tick slower or clearer than average can help you bridge the gap in the meantime.
