Asking about personal characteristics

Asking about personal characteristics

For my spanish homework (which is worth a major quiz grade) I have been assigned to write a conversation between "Juan" and myself. One of the things I have to ask Juan about are his personal characteristics (what is he like). I tried to look up how to ask Juan about himself online, but no site has given me a logical answer. Please tell me how to ask Juan about his personal characteristics as if I am talking to Juan in person. Thank you

I edited "as" to "ask". You English is very good here but you need to remember to capitalize Spanish. I hope you follow the advice below and repost your attempt. - Jubilado, Sep 19, 2013

Would you like to post your attempt first and then we'd be happy to help with any necessary corrections. It may seem a little daunting to start with but it really is the best way to learn.

A couple of tips would be that if we're asking what colour something is in English we say 'What colour is/are ...? but in Spanish you would say 'Of what colour is/are...? De que color es/son ...?

And if you are asking about characteristics such as height etc make sure you use the verb ser instead of estar. ¿Eres alto? Are you tall? (familiar you) or ¿Es alto? Are you tall? (formal you). (Not está(s).)

I hope that helps get you started at least.

Normally when we are interested about someone, we ask someone else who knows this person ¿Cómo es ....... ?

So if you want to ask the person directly, simply conjugate the verb ser appropriately.
