Blog Post -- Improving your conversational Spanish

The latest post from my Helping You Learn Spanish Blog.

I'm continuing to share my experiences of my (so far) 10 year learning Spanish journey. In this post I talk about the challenges I faced trying to reach a conversational level of Spanish and what I did to overcome them.

My journey is far from over and feels more like it's just getting started. I'm hoping I can help those of you just getting started or passing through the same stages I did avoid or quickly overcome the challenges in front of you. I hope you find it useful!

OK, I had more time to go back and read over your last two posts.

Man, your journey is a LoT like mine (except for the part where you´re a year or two ahead, and better, and where I did take some formal classes too - mostly because that was a familiar adjunct to me)

But seriously, the part of using restaurants, and realizing you didn´t know enough people but through restaurants and meetup.com, meeting new people and learning more from them, and then even more people, and then ending up at parties where you were one of the few English speakers. Man, so close to home, including much of the last year, and all of the last 4 days surrounding Diez y Seis.

Even 2 of of the 4 books are 2 than I own, and are my 2 favorites. I´ll be looking into the other two pronto.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks, and give a big up to your methodology. I used a bit more formal class and a bit less podcasts, but the parallels are uncanny.

My big advantage is that I have had your podcasts. Conversely, your advantage is having had to suffer through very little of what I´ve written, such as this very message.

Thanks Rodney.
