Is your other name Mr Wil? - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
Will you stop that? :-) - chileno, Sep 17, 2013

I thought the point of learning a new language was to try. At least that is what rac1 always tells newbies when they post. It's SD rules. You have to try first and then someone will help you. So, what have we here? A new member (quan_toflyh) tried to make flashcards and made some errors but he gets a badge to encourage him to keep learning. Does anyone try to help him to point out his mistakes? Nope. Someone is pi**ed because he received a badge. It's possible for him to edit/delete and correct the cards (as long as someone tells him they are incorrect) so what's the big deal about him making mistakes? Making mistakes is part of learning Spanish or English for that matter. There is no one here who never makes a mistake. Sorry for the rant, but I'm getting tired of reading that people's posts are simply nonsense.

I certainly don't want to discourage anyone who sincerely wants to learn, but MrSoprano raises a good point. If flashcards are wrong, other beginners are exposed to misinformation. The question is the best way to keep that from happening. - AnnRon, Sep 17, 2013
I don't care about the badges. I just think that flashcards creation should be limited to experienced users because that's learning material; wrong learning material. - 00483d91, Sep 17, 2013
Maybe nonsense is not the best word when I want to say that "it makes no sense at all". But that's the truth. - 00483d91, Sep 17, 2013
That's the 'misinformation' I was talking about on the other thread that (also) pi**ed you off. - 00483d91, Sep 17, 2013
Well Wil, you've just managed to do it again with 'flashcard creation being limited to experienced users'. Aren't flashcards supposed to be a learning tool? - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
Let's see. Let's extend your rule and say that people who make mistakes shouldn't post at all here because someone might see the mistake and learn something incorrectly. What a load of hogwash. - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
I discovered that there's a disclaimer for user-made flashcard sets. That takes care of the issue for me, I think. - AnnRon, Sep 18, 2013
Extend the rule to posting? Who said that? Now you are talking nonsense. Yes, flashcards should be a learning tool but if they are wrong what is the point? - 00483d91, Sep 19, 2013
And Margherite, now you are being disrespectful addressing to me as MrWil. I'm tired of receiving warnings and rantings about my manners just because I always try to make SD a better site. - 00483d91, Sep 19, 2013
Dear MrSoprano...may I point out that it was you yourself who answered to the name Mr Wil in the comments section of the original question. He asked Mr Wil a question and you answered. You've changed your name so much since being here, I automatically. - 0095ca4c, Sep 19, 2013
assumed that this was your new one. - 0095ca4c, Sep 19, 2013
So don't tell me I was being disrespectful by using that name because I wasn't. - 0095ca4c, Sep 19, 2013
Don't tell me I'm takling nonsense either. Mine was a legitimate hypothetical. You're just trying to wiggle out of a hole that you dug for yourself by blaming me. I am telling you straight up, that strategy won't work. I've learned to stand up to bullies. - 0095ca4c, Sep 19, 2013
A bully? Oh my God! - 00483d91, Sep 19, 2013

Now, now.

All points are valid, the one I question is the motive of why the OP posted that in the first place. You have to be a five years older to post something like that, unless of course you are someone out to troll.

And then, the adults in the forum get on each others cases because of a troll?????

Epic! I think that's what the OP must be thinking to her/himself as she/he reads the sequel left by a question that has, apparently, nothing to do with learning a language.

The rest, as mine is just guessing, and I don't like to guess.

Can I have some tea with that hot water?

:^)

Edit: I forgot to add that the flashcard or whatever most likely was an attempt to show some activity, as if the person in question is very interested in lerning. That's all.

Yes, I agree completely. The original post should have been ignored but it wasn't. I disagree with MrSoprano's thought process about not allowing anyone who is not an 'experience user' to make flashcards. - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
Do you take lemon on milk? - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
that should be 'or' milk. - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
lemon my dear... :) - chileno, Sep 17, 2013
Lemon it is. I will bring scones and clotted cream.Do you bend your little finger?. :-) - 0095ca4c, Sep 17, 2013
no, just the wrist.... hahahahaha - chileno, Sep 17, 2013

I've just receive a warning from a moderator saying that the poster is trying to get a translation for “why so mean in class mr wil”. That wasn't so obvious to me. I thought it was just another troll. - 00483d91, Sep 19, 2013

This person quan_toflyh joined SD half an hour ago and it caught my attention the fact that he/she already has a badge for creating a flashcard (which is totally useless, by the way). And this fact has arisen an old doubt of mine. Is there any control upon the flashcards? It worries me because I've seen one or two that are simply nonsense.

Well, I've always been a fussy person and maybe this is not very important but I just wanted to point it out.

A couple in his set are just wrong. It seems to defeat the purpose of Spanishdict to allow them to remain. - AnnRon, Sep 16, 2013
The flashcard issue needs to be sent via the feedback button. It's not going to do any good posted here because we don't control that. - rac1, Sep 19, 2013
