.why can you not say igualmente in responce to Buenas Noches

Julian, why would Buenos días - igualmente be OK but not buenas noches - igualmente?
You are just replying "likewise"
I don't understand you, or maybe you are thinking of something else?
To me is totally correct and proper, to say igualmente in any situation.
Te odio - igualmente.
Feliz Navidad - igualmente.

Gramatically, there is nothing wrong with it, ie: "Que tengas buen día" ......... "Gracias, igualmente."
But "Buenas noches" ........ "Igualmente" sounds like you could not care less if the other person has a good night or not.
"Gracias, igualmente" is OK in a formal situation such as your leaving a store after a purchase and the clerk says to you "Buenas noches."
In English, when someone says "good night" to me, I say "good night" as well. I don't say "same to you". It's the same way in Spanish. Igualmente means equally = "same to you."
Now that you've changed 'igualamenta' to 'igualmente' your question makes more sense.
It helps us to understand what you want if you give more explanation. I thought that your question pertained to the gender of the word, it looked as if you were trying to make 'igualmente' feminine to agree with the gender (though not the number) of 'noches'.
It may be that you were asking the question to which Julian has responded, i.e. the use of 'igualmente' in this specific situation. Context is everything!
