Just need the word broke down for me so I can make sure I am getting the sound correct. Puede is it ( poo- ay???) I realize may seem silly but I really do need an answer. Thank You

Here is a little guide that I wrote for a presentation on "Spanish Basics". It covers all the vowel sounds you will encounter in Spanish. This was written for English speakers so the phonetics in parentheses are what an English speaker would say:

1. NOTE: There are only 5 pure vowel sounds. There is no "uh" sound in Spanish.

2. Vowel sounds: Listen and repeat: A (ah) E (eh) I [Y] (ee) O (oh) U (oo)

3. Dipthongs: AI, AY (eye) AU, AO (ow) EI, EY (ay) OI, OY (oy) EU (eoo)

4. Semivowels: IA, YA (yah) IE, YE (yeh) IO, YO (yo) IU (you) UA (wah) UE (weh) UI, UY (wee)

5. Separate Syllables: AE (ah-eh) EA (eh-ah) EO (eh-oh) OA (oh-ah)
