The Word for shingles

The Word for shingles

I'm looking for the Spanish word for "shingles" - the roofing material, not the disease. I have found "teja(s)" but it appears to refer to roofing tiles rather than asphalt shingles. I want to write: The wind blew some shingles off of my roof."

The best answer I could find is tablillas. But I think you could say tejas de asphalto and you would be understood.

Here they use tejas de barro for clay tiles.

In my book of Spanish stories, translated into English, they use "tablillas".

"La casita de este funcionario era de madera, con techo de tabilillas de incienso dispuestas como pizarras."

"His little house was made of wood, with a shingled roof of wormwood."

Later on they use "tejas de incienso"
