I was given this question "¿Algunas de esas chicas son tus amigas?" I am supposed to respond using the negative, but for this one it wants it singular. I need to answer from my point of view. The answer shows up as "No, __________________ mi amiga" Can anyone help. I've tried...

"No, ninguna de esa chica es mi amiga"

That is apparently not right

can you explain why "esas" and "chicas" are still in plural form? - kwatkins1993, Aug 23, 2013
It's as if you were saying: not one of them IS my firend - diagonx, Aug 23, 2013
In English we would punctate like this ...ninguna, de esas chicas, es mi amigo. You can leave the "de esas chicas" clause out and it still makes sense. - gringojrf, Aug 23, 2013

I agree, "de esas chicas" is already understood from the question, so to repeat this in the answer sounds redundant and wordy. The most natural response would be: No, ninguna es mi amiga.
