First of all, welcome to the most helpful Spanish forum, and I'm not exaggerating because everyone here does his best and helps to the most. I would recommend that you start with repeating and memorizing some Spanish sentences listening to podcasts. After that, you will have a little idea of how things go in Spanish and you will learn how to pronounce. I would avoid starting off with grammar as it is a SHOCK compared to English. I'm not saying that to put you off, but it is different from what we use. The more you are involved, the more questions will be raised, and there is no better place than here to ask. Doing exercises here and going through lessons, will help you also. When you become a little comfortable, and I repeat "a little," start memorizing verbs and their conjugations. I used to study 2 verbs of each endings, IR, ER and AR. I take four tenses a day, for example, I learn how to conjugate the verb, Romper, in four tenses, present, past perfect, imperfect and future. Conjugation of verbs is not as complicated as in English, of course there are irregulars, but you can survive with more regulars verbs. Generally speaking, you will almost always find a link to conjugations of verbs, I mean their endings will somehow match another verb's endings.
One thing, don't use google translator. Instead, use this website's dictionary and/or wordreference dictionary.
Good luck and keep it up!
Welcome to the forum, Param!
I would say begin at the beginning - go to the lessons here first. Start with Lesson 1.1, and so on. Each lesson has a video lesson, quizzes and vocabulary flash cards to help you learn.
Then, you can join in the Q&A (questions & answers) and speak to others who are learning both English and Spanish, as well as play games to reinforce your learning. Good luck, and we'll see you around, I'm sure. Have fun!
I started learning with what I thought I would actually use. Then used it for practice. Later I found more things I needed to learn. And so on. Do the lessons, but you will forget the learning if you don't use it. Buena suerte, amigo! (Good luck, friend!)
