What does "Ponte perro" mean?

What does "Ponte perro" mean?

I first heard it in this video : Cholo @14:41 (time)

and after I showed my friends they keep saying it, and I'm not 100% on what it actually means, but I have an idea, I've tried research but didn't find much, I just want to know what it means in the context the way they are using it in the video.

Any help would be great, Thanks.

I just watched the video, it was actually pretty funny. Super naco (ghetto), but funny.

Ponte perro Get ready

Another way to say this is:

Ponte al tiro

In plain old Spanish these both translate to ponte listo

And keep in mind the phrases are Mexican Spanish. They may make no sense at all to anyone else, or mean something completely different.

In my hometown "ponte perro" means to act like a dog. As in: be aggressive, don't back down, be a go-getter, go wild, get what you want. As much as I hate to compare it to this, it's almost "YOLO"-esque. wink

Ponte perro, as you'll realise is a slang expression.

It can mean to go and get drunk, it can mean to behave en plan pasota not caring about anything.

Un dia de perro is a lost or wasted day when you just can't be bothered, and it seems the best thing to do is ponte perro = get smashed grin

At least that's what it means here in Spain,

I got this explanation from an Andaluz de Granada.

It can be a flippant, street-talk way of saying "take it easy" but with a throwaway "who cares" attitude.

Oh I didn't watch the video, I couldn't be bothered... Me puse perro wink

ponte perro
