This is a great resource with 3 levels. It has an advanced level. Let me know what you think.
Thanks all for your suggestions.
I live in Bogota and have done for four years, I run and have run several businesses and spend most of my time thinking, speaking and writing in Spanish which I do fluidly and reasonably fluently. As I mentioned above, my issue is that of vocabulary and refining my use of the language, as illustrated by LaPiedraAlegre (thanks for the corrections). I do need to find someone with whom to do some kind of language exchange, whereby they'll correct my mistakes. I'll also check out the links that you've mentioned.
Cheers again,
Alex
I see from your profile when you joined you were in Bogotá. I therefore assume your spoken Spanish is good. Some formal grammar lessons are a good idea. An intercambio or two will help with vocabulary and listening and speaking skills. I get viente mundos - sign up by email [link in sanlees post]You will receive an article regularly and the site includes videos and vocabulary learning etc. A lot of the material is geared to Latin America. Notes in Spanish is excellent [link in earlier post] The podcasts are all free including their latest Gold 1 and 2 which would be suitable for your level. I paid for them and the additional work sheets are good - but wait till they come up with an offer. Join their mailing list. Watch films - two I like, Volver [Spain] and El Secreto de los ojos [Argentinean] Our Spanish teacher rated sites that graded pieces so she liked this: http://www.practicaespanol.com/ RTVE the Spanish national television/radio channel has loads of programmes some available as podcasts the rest to listen online - follow a TV series eg Pelota which is based on a football team http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/pelotas/ Pick a topic you like and find 3 different reports about it + a video good way to increase your vocabulary. Best done with a current topic Listen to music. Find a blog you like and read it. There is no point doing something you don't like. I enjoy poetry - most songs are poems - but if you hate poetry forget it. At advanced level you have the ability to go to all the media available for native Spanish speakers. If you want to increase your slang read the comments on articles in the paper. Finally I do not have a twitter account but sometimes check them out. This one is surprisingly good with links to videos! https://twitter.com/policia
If you are interested in reading news from Latin America, try Merco Press- Noticias del Atlántico Sur. It's based in Uruguay, predominently news from Latin America, but they cover major world happenings as well. You can read it online, or you can receive the headlines by email if you sign up as well as by RSS feed. The link is for the Spanish Edition. Happy reading!
Hola!
¡Espero haberte ayudado bien!
Hola Through the passage of time studying in different ways I am at an advanced level-not perfectly fluent but I learn every day. I'll give you my "grano de arena" from my experience. Perhaps it will be helpful. If you really want to learn Spanish well you will need to invest in two activities: Speaking regularly with native speakers, and studying in a class with a good teacher. People often ask me where I learned Spanish and I tell them right here in the US. It's not necessary to travel to a foreign school as we are lucky to have so many native speakers. What is important is to find a job, volunteer work, living or social sitation where you will be using Spanish regularly with native speakers. I made choices in my life to do this and it's what made a big difference for me. At some point I realized I had to go back to classes for grammar, vocabulary and refinement. I am lucky to have found an advanced class with an excellent teacher in a continuing Ed program. In my opinion nothing replaces real experience and good classes. Internet programs qre supplementary. Of course to have real passion you also can read everyday- Newspapers , literature, popular culture-music, tv etc and use dictionaries in Span/Eng and Span/Span as well as search with new vocabulary in yahoo etc to see how it is used. Here on this site I really appreciate the flashcards that people have made and shared. It is greatly helping me to review and gain new vocabulary. I have found great advanced lists. You can check my favs if you like. I make mistakes every day in Spanish but I can say I am constantly learning. It all depends on how much you want to invest in it. These are not the only way to learn and I think its good that you are getting ideas from different people. Good luck
Alex, read my blog
We can talk on Skype and I will explain and guide you through it (my blog).
But I encourage you to talk to me so that I can assess you and see what, if not all, of my system will be adequate for you to follow in order to improve your Spanish skills.
