terriblemente ( teh-ree-blay-mehn'-the )

(adverb) terribly

Sylyon1976 is the official corrector for the Spanish sentences. Please correct your posts according to her suggestions. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game to help with using a new vocabulary word! Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

1. Cuando me partí el codo el año pasado me dolió terriblemente por varios días.

When I broke my elbow last year it hurt terribly for several days.

2. Extraño terriblemente a mi familia cuando estoy de viaje.

I miss my family terribly when I'm traveling.

Me puse terriblemente nervioso la primera vez que estaba solo en el metro en España. Pero no le digáis nada a nadie! Es un secreto!

I became terribly nervous the first time I was alone on the subway in Spain. But don't say anything to anybody! It's a secret!

Echar una mano de ayuda es todo lo que se necesita lo que la gente no se siente terriblemente solo.

To give a helping hand is all that is needed so that people do not feel terribly alone.

Gracias sylyon....pienso que fue el Papa, porque tiene el poder divino para saber todo. Estoy avergonzado por el primer error 'me siente'...yikes!.:-) - 0095ca4c, Aug 10, 2013
Definitly, the Pope. He is in every way inferior to Her Majesty the Queen, who is a woman of a certain age, a ruling Monarch, head of a churc and has better fashion advisors.. h - annierats, Aug 10, 2013

Para sylyon ,así que puede pensar un rato. - I was not on the tank I was in the car in the grounds of the house on a wind- swept moor on a Saturdy in July? - ray76, Aug 10, 2013
I guess it is the same . I remember learning Italian and being told,-If it does not sound right and flow well, then it is wrong , I feel that for English , maybe one day I shall feel that for Spanish , I pray for that day. - ray76, Aug 10, 2013
ray, how can we not be late, when they keep putting up the palabra in the middle of the night or at some other impossible hour.. - annierats, Aug 10, 2013
You are right Annie , for me it is impossible , it was not always thus , I wish they would let me post the English word of the day again , it would come out in your morning. - ray76, Aug 10, 2013
What does that make me then, you have already posted before I do? - pmikan-pam, Aug 13, 2013

Como Ray, siempre llego tarde al juego de Palabra del día, porque es terriblemente duro levantarme a medianoche o a las dos de la madrugada para ver que sea la palabra del día de hoy, sin despertar a mi marido.

Just like Ray, I always arrive late to play ' Word of the Day' because it's terribly hard to get up at midnight or at two in the morning in order to see what today's ' word' might be, without waking my husband up.
