Que is a relative pronoun. For example, I didn't know (that) he is going to go to the party ( no sabía (que) él va a la fiesta). Ese, esa, eso, esos, este (this), esta (this) feminine, etc, are used to refer to objects or people. Example, this man (este hombre), this pen (este poligrafo), that girl (esa niña), that door (esa puerta).

Que is the conjunction "that".
"Ese", "esa", "eso", etc. are the demonstrative adjectives or pronouns "that".
