¿Qué pasé muchísima vergüenza mientras has estado aprendiendo otra lengua?

Recuerda...

  1. Escribe en inglés y español
  2. Escribe "Por favor, revisa mi español" si eres hablante nativo de inglés (y viceversa)

What is your most embarrassing language learning moment?

Remember...

  1. Write in English and Spanish

  2. Write "Please review my Spanish" if you are a native English speaker (and vice versa)

Él no hablaba inglés. ¿Tengo novia?- le pregunté. Él sonrío y me avergoncé.

A few years ago, I wanted to ask a cute guy if he had a girlfriend. He didn't speak English. I asked, "Tengo novia/ I have girlfriend?" He smiled and I was embarrassed.

Please correct my Spanish. Por Favor corregir mi español.

I was having a conversation with my friend from Nicaragua asking her if we were straight? (meaning, are we in agreement) I said, "Somos el recto?" Well, you can imagine my embarrassment when she laughed forever, then told me what I had said. Yikes!

When I tried to say the age of my son, I said it in years and I meant months. A man said 'he's very small for his age"

Por favor, revisa mi español

Let's just say I learned the phrase, "Hace calor" rather than using the verb estar, the hard way. I got quite a stare from the taxi driver. Dumb gringa.

¡Tonta gringa!

Please check my Spanish!

Por favor, ¡revisen mi español!

My friend Melisa is Mexican, and she used my phone after a performance at a football game one night. I was in Spanish 2 so I wanted to try to translate some of her conversation with her mom to my friends. When she got off the phone, she told me that I was wrong about what she and her mom had been talking about, and I was really embarrassed!
