Where do you eat other than at home?

It struck me the other day than here in Baja very few people eat in actual restuarants. You know; a building with four walls, windows, etc. There are probably less than 100 traditional style restuarants here in La Paz and several thousand palapas, taco stands, hot dog/hamburger and tamal vendors.

I personally have not eaten in a restuarant in several years. I, like most Mexicans prefer to eat "in the streets" or if in a "restuarant" it is an open air palapa. Driving down the malecón I see empty restuarants while the street is full of people sitting outside eating a variety of foods.

El otro día me di cuenta de aquí en Baja muy poco gente come en restaurantes reales. Sabe, un edificio con cuatro paredes, ventanas, etc. Pienso que hay menos que cien restaurantes tradicionales aquí en La Paz, Mientras hay unos miles de palapas, carritos de tacos, hot dogs, hambuguesas, y tamal.

Yo mismo no he comido en un restaurante en unos años. Yo, come muchos Méxicanos prefiero comer "en las calles" o en una palapa. Manejando por el malecón veo restaurantes vacios mientras la calle es lleno de gente sentado afuera comiendo varios tipos de comida.

A las inglesas, les encanta hacer un picnic . En la playa comemos bocadillos llenos de arena y mayonesa.Lo normal es que empiece a llover en el instante en que llegamos al sitio elegido para el picnic. Los perros corren como locos y nos roban todos los bocadillos ricos, los hechos con quéso y jamón, los niños gritan porque se nos ha olvidado la bebida para ellos. Los hombres beben unas latas de cerveza y las mujeres beben vino blanco, servido en tazas, porque las niñas están haciendo castillos de arena con los vasos de plástico. ¡ Que felicidad!

English women love making a picnic. On the beach we eat sandwiches full of sand and mayonaise. Normally it starts to rain the moment we arrive at the chosen picnic-site. The dogs run like mad and steal all our nice sandwiches, those made with cheese and ham, the children cry because we have forgotten their drinks. The men drink some cans of beer and the women drink white wine out of coffe-mugs because the little girls are building sandcastles with the plastic glasses. What joy!

I like small quiet restaurants where there are no ill mannered children who are allowed to crawl on the floor. It seems to me that manners are a thing of the past. Most of the time my friends and I cook for eachother at home.

Me encanta restaurantes pequeños y tranquilos a donde niños mal educados no se les permite gatear por el piso. Me parece que buenas maneras han pasado a ser historia. La mayoría del tiempo, mis amigos y yo cocinamos juntos en casa

That depends. I love Arab food, and you don't get much of it on the streets, at least not here. On the other hand, our street vendors have the best arepas and empanadas ever.

Living in southwest Florida, near the western coast, and the tourist attractions, there are many restaurants. Most are indoors (bugs and rain), but there are some restaurants that have outdoor patios. During the summer, when it humid and rainy, people are inside - in the air conditioning. But during the winter, the dry season, the tourists come from all over and fill the restaurants. You have the choice of everything, including English pub restaurants. Welcome to southwest Florida.

Estoy viviendo en sud-oeste Florida, acercó la costa oeste, y los lugares de interés turístico, hay mucho restaurantes. Más son dentro (los insectos y la lluvia), pero hay alguno restaurantes que tienen patios al aire libre. Durante el verano, cuando está húmedo y lluvioso, las personas están dentro - en aire condicionado. Pero, durante el invierno, la estación seca, las turistas vienen de todas partes y se llenan los restaurantes. Tiene la opción de todo, incluyendo restaurantes pub inglés. Bienvenido a sud-oeste Florida.
