como vs cómo

another of my wonder why questions. Now I am home in my isolated community as far west as you can go on Vancouver Island Canada, I have no verbal contact with Spanish speakers. Therefore correct pronunciation is difficult with some words.
"como" without an accent over the first "o" seems to translate to "as"
"cómo" translates to how. Not good in english class when younger i have trouble with these points. Is the cómo spoken with the usual sound of the "o" but more deliberate.

I used the sentence= Cómo son tus ojos. To ask someone how their eyes were, does this make sense'

cómo means how, in what way', in what manner', by what means'; to what extent? while como means as, by way of, for the purpose of + Nombre, etc

In Spain we would say:

¿Qué tal tus ojos hoy?

Como has actually three translations:

comer= como (1st person, present)

como : adverb (like, as)

cómo: interrogative

My friend has some medical problems with his eyes. I want to ask him simply "¿How are your eyes hoy'"

¿cómo están tus ojos? means that the eyes are ill or that there is a problem in them.

¿cómo son tus ojos? means that you want someone to describe his/her eyes

the verb here needs to be in the 'estar' form.. so it should read

cómo estan tus ojos'

The pronounciation of cómo is more stressed that the one of como
