Expressions with the verb "Hacer"

Expressions with the verb "Hacer"

8
votes

Since I have noticed that the verb "hacer" has many different uses and expressions in Spanish, I have decided to propose a new learning game in which each answer will add to our knowledge of these different uses and expressions.

Please write a short sentence in both Spanish and English, and add a related picture if possible.

Here's an example:

El gato hace miau The cat meows

Hacer el pino = to do a handstand

Pararse de manos o "hacer el pino" no solamente es divertido, sino que también es una buena forma de ejercitarse y también puede ser usado para impresionar a los amigos.

Creo que mi hermano menor no va a hacerse hombre nunca, es un niño tan tierno... ( I don't think my little brother will ever grow into a proper bloke , he's a real softie.)

I decided to use the imperfecto because it is a description, rather than a distinct event, but am I right? - jennysk, Jul 14, 2013
Actually I would say 'Ayer hizo frío' unless you add more info like 'Ayer hacía frío cuando fuimos a la playa. :) - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 15, 2013
Thanks KG. It is tricky but I see what you mean. - jennysk, Jul 15, 2013
