This is a clear example of how an accent can change the word to another context.
Like Eidita seid: Ahorrándo pláica does mean: No talk much.
Evelio reply: Ahorrándo platíca: Saving Money.

Thanks for that, this friend of mine is Colombian so it make it a little harder to translate in dictionaries!

In this text, though, we had better wait for a Mexican friend. platicar means to talk, but is not used in Spain, so ahorrando here might be simply not talk much, but let's wait.
