I'm not trying to go into any political discussion here just sharing a speech cause I love one sentence in particular.
And maybe we could get some new vocabulary.

Pobre no es el que tiene poco, sino que verdaderamente pobre, es el que necesita infinitamente mucho.
A poor person is not someone who has little but one who needs infinitely more.

Hi Anormal. Thank you for posting this. I enjoyed listening to it and was obviously glad for the subtitles. It is certainly good practice. After having listened to it, I'm still not sure what Mr. President wants to change. He is obviously an advocate of happiness. So, is a poor person "who needs infinitely more" a happy person? This is not a political statement on my part. I'm practicing and hopefully satisfying my curiosity about your thoughts. I apologize in advance for my mistakes in Spanish.

La mayoría del pueblo de la gente del mundo tiene poco. Es pobre por eso, pero no está pobre si ama a los demás, trata a su vecino como a sí mismo, y mantiene la alegría en su vida diaria.

Most of the people in the world have little. They are* the poor because of that, but not poor if they love others, treat their neighbors as themselves, and maintain happiness in their daily lives.

*"she is" in Spanish because of antecedent "mayoría"

I wrote all the above Spanish without a dictionary so please correct any errors.

I suppose we would have to specify what we mean exactly by the word 'poor'. As you say, it can mean much more that not having money. I am impressed that you wrote without a dictionary Jubilado...I can'tdo that yet. I don't know enough vocabulary or verbs - 0095ca4c, Jul 12, 2013
