"Disculpe o perdone"?

These have very similar translation. Is the former for interruption and the latter for saying sorry only? Are they interchangeable in all situations? Which one is best when you mis-heard something and need it repeating?

They can be interchangeable.
Examples using them for interruption:
Disculpe que la interrumpa, señora, ¿me puede decir la hora?
Perdone que me meta en la conversación, enfermera, pero ¿hay muchos pacientes hoy?
Examples using them to apologize or excuse yourself:
Perdona, Julia, no fue mi intención ofenderte.
Sr. Luis, discúlpeme por favor. Le prometo que no volverá a ocurrir.
