Learning spanish in how long?
How long would it take for a person who knows a little spanish to know spanish fully?
1 Answer
I believe that it would take a person about two to three years to learn it fully only if they dedicate the time to learning it. The more a person dedicates their time to learning a language, specifically Spanish in this case, the faster they will learn. If a person expects to know Spanish fully within a two to three year period, they HAVE TO HAVE COMMITMENT. This means studying and using the language as much as possible everyday whether if it be by doing listening, writing, reading or speaking. It must be used everyday. I mean, a person can have a break for one day but I go by this saying, "If you don't use it, you lose it." For me, to get to this advanced stage of knowing the Spanish language, I used it everyday!! Even if I didn't have flashcards, in my head ,I would ask myself, "how do I say that word?"For speaking, I would set my dolls up in my room and just pretend like I was teaching a class in Spanish. For listening, I would spend time listening to the radio and watching Spanish shows that interested me. It took me a lot of time to get my listening skills down. I thought "Oh my gosh, when am I ever going to get this?" I persevered and didn't give up and to this day, my listening skills are good. A person that wants to know Spanish fully cannot give up when they find themselves not getting a specific skill down. It doesn't happen overnight. Each person is different. You will get it in time, but YOU CAN'T GIVE UP. And a person feels good when they finally see the results of their hard work and dedication. The more you engage yourself in a language, the better!! Any person can learn a language. It just takes that person to have dedication and commitment. So yes, it would take about two to three years Don't worry, you will get it!!!!
