We are looking for an official corrector for the Spanish sentences. If you are interested, please send me a PM. Estamos buscando un corrector oficial de las frases en español. Si usted está interesado, por favor envíeme un PM.

Sinmeta and Franco will be correcting the Spanish sentences as his time permits. We still need more help with this very important task. Please correct your sentences according to his suggestions.

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Sueño con viajar a américa del sur , un continente famoso por sus paisajes, su vino, y su gente simpática . Los Latino americanos comen llama todos los días pero esto no importa, porque el vino es tan bueno que no se nota la comida.

I dream of travelling to South America , a continent famous for its landscapes, its wine , and its friendly people. The Latin Americans eat llama every day, but, as the wine is so good one hardly notices the food.

You and me both Annie, any country that can make good wine has to be the best. - ray76, Jun 17, 2013
Ian, obviousluy, mexico is mexico! I never think of that.. In fact, it's all so distant.. - annierats, Jun 17, 2013
In order not to upset any Mexicans I've changed it to américa del sur.. - annierats, Jun 17, 2013
Hey I love her half socks,. - ray76, Jun 17, 2013
They only eat that in the Andes; but I gotta say I'd rather eat llama than frog legs for sure - diagonx, Jun 17, 2013
So would I, Diagonx, snails and frogs need loads of garlic and a blank mind.. - annierats, Jun 17, 2013
Llama makes a great steak. - ian-hill, Jun 17, 2013
I've never seen it on the menu in Chile. hahahaha - katydew, Jun 17, 2013
katy: It's maybe described as ' locally produced lamb?' - annierats, Jun 17, 2013
I'm voting for the trip, not the llama eating :-) - 0095ca4c, Jun 17, 2013
Hi Annie, great picture. I hope you don't mind a correction to the English - "it's" is a contraction of 'it is'. When you use the possessive, there is no apostrophe. So it should be "its landcapes, its wine..." - jennysk, Jun 18, 2013
Thanks Jenny! - annierats, Jun 18, 2013
I often muddle that up, Jenny, thanks for pointing it out. - annierats, Jun 18, 2013

Martha no ha estado en América del sur,lo siento, pero no sé donde ha sido;

pero sí sé que ella es misteriosas maravillosas,y nuestra maestra,

mañana será con nosotros de nuevo.

Martha has not been in Latin America, I do not know where she has been

but I do know that she is mysterious marvellous and our teacher ,

Tomorrow she will be back with us , and I shall disappear into the underworld ,

from whence I came and shall soon retire, being the shy retiring type that I am .

Habiéndose cogido el 55% de lo que era Méjico, no entiendo por qué muchos estadounidenses se quejan de la presencia latinoamericana en su país. Además de lo que han hecho después de eso.

Having taken 55% of what was Mexico, I don't see why many Americans complain about the presence of Latin Americans in their country. Plus what they've done after that.

America is named after Amerigo Vespucci an italian explorer of the New World. Latin America was named America first. - ian-hill, Jun 17, 2013
