Can you use 'hago' in this way?

Hi,

Just curious as to whether or not it is okay in Spanish to say 'hago' as a short-cut for a different verb.

ie. '¿Te lavas los dientes?' 'Hago.' 'Do you brush your teeth?' 'I do.'

This probably isn't the best example to use as you could just say 'sí', but I have to translate a piece where it says, 'Tomatoes don't taste as good as they used to!' 'Oh, but they do - they really do.' and I was wondering if it would be okay to use the verb hacer to say 'they do' rather than saying 'they taste'.

Not exactly. I do translates as Sí, lo hago. or Sí, me lavo los dientes.

Yes = Sí

Yes, I do = Sí

Yes, I do it = Sí, lo hago

In your case about the tomatoes...

Sí que lo son.

or

Sí que son sabrosos.

You can also use the verb cepillarse: cepillarse los dientes = to brush your teeth.

¿Te cepillas los dientes?= Do you brush your teeth Sí... lo hago = Yes, I do (implied it)
