This remark was made in response to a situation that arose, : estabe con al alma en la boco." I am not sure if it indicates distraughtness or disappointment??? Thanks for any explinations, especially of the Mécicana tipo.

Some context would help, but this could be used either positively or negatively and the spelling should be "estaba con el alma en la boca."

I had my heart in my mouth.
I was terrified, distraught.
It's not particuarily Mexican, it's as Spanish as having your heart in your mouth is English, we all get shocks from time to time.
