Debo usar algo mas o ademas?

From what I've seen & heard of además it's used when you are asking for some more of something. And maybe for ending a questioning or phone call. Is this correct?

However I have no clue as to how to use algo mas. Do the two phrases mean similar things.

Can anyone give me more examples of the likes or the differences of the two if there is one?

Además is used to clarify or strengthen an argument, I typically use it in essays rather than in everyday speech. It means "thus, as such, in addition to"- as you can see, it is considered a transition word that is very useful in essay writing.

Algo más means "anything else?" "something more?" You'll typically hear it in a shop/restaurant, the shopkeeper might ask if you'd like to buy "algo más"?

Además means besides, in addition to.

Algo más means something else.

Perhaps this distinction can help you choose one expression over the other.
