If you don't mind...

As I was trying to make translations of English to Spanish in my head. I was figuring out how to say " If you don't mind..." in spanish. What I saw was - "Si te importa..."
Is this good enough? Or, there is another way to say this? If it is not that much, could you please provide sample sentences that this phrase is used. Say, If you don't mind me saying etc.

You could say "Te importa" depending on context, but to start a sentence with "If you don´t mind" is usually asking if something would be a bother or be troublesome for someone, rather than "Do you care if ............."
To ask this in Spanish usually has a formal nuance, so we do it with Usted when talking directly to one person, ie: ¿No le molesta si dejo mis documentos aquí con usted? / ¿Le molesta si salgo primero? Es que ando bien tarde. (We can also use a structure of conditional and subjunctive clauses, ie: ¿No le molestaría si dejara ...........?)
For your example "If you don't mind me saying" you are probably with friends, so I would say, ie: Espero que no te moleste, pero yo diría ....................
From what I found in the dictionary, it ought to be the other way round, si no te importa. The examples given are:
if you don't mind my asking,… -> si no te importa que te lo pregunte…
I don't mind the cold -> el frío no me importa OR no me molesta
I don't mind trying -> no me importa intentarlo
And on the other hand:
would you mind not doing that? -> ¿te importaría no hacer eso?
