Lingotes de cobre, a translation excercise.

Question

This all began over a History channel program about the possibility of the Minoans in north America, and a late bronze age shipwreck discovered in Turkey.

We began a little research on the subject and found a paper written about the wreck and its cargo.

the challenge here is not just translation of a paragraph from the paper, which is not too difficult -- but to translate it so that it "reads well and smoothly" in English. There will of course be many "correct" ways to write this in English. I will post my version after we get a few takers to the challenge.

Here it is;

Se piensa que los lingotes de cobre encontrados en la nave Minoica de "Uluburrum" proceden de Chipre, ya que se encontró que su composición metalúrgica es muy similar al cobre Chipriota. Por lo pronto, parece que se descarta su origen americano.

The copper ingots found aboard the Minoan ship "Uluburrum" are thought to have originated from Cyprus, as the metallic composition of said ingots are very similar to that of Cyprian copper. For the time being, the idea of an American origin for this copper can be discarded.

My attempt:

It is believed that the copper ingots found in the vessel Minoica of "Uluburun" comes from Cyprus, since it was found that its metallurgical composition is very similar to the copper of Cyprus. For now, it seems that rule out its American origin.

Is there truth to the rumour circulating in diplomatic circles

that the Government of Cyprus has instigated a claim in the

"Hague" for the recovery of their "treasure" found in the vessel ?

¿Hay verdad en el rumor en el círculos diplomáticos que el gobierno de Cyprus ha hecho una demanda para recupera el tesoro , en La Haya?
