However, too much misdirected compassion overruns a country with criminals.

It is always a two edged sword Katya , a fine line between compassion and common sense. - ray76, May 31, 2013
I'm in total agreement katy. - 0095ca4c, May 31, 2013
I have to disagree, each case has to be heard on it's merits, they are all persons, not numbers... - annierats, May 31, 2013

I'd go for understanding above both condemnation or compassion.

understanding = compassion?? - annierats, May 31, 2013
Not really. I think that compassion has an element of pity in it, of the person being compassionate having more power than the person being felt compassionate about. - togtog, May 31, 2013
@togtog, good point there is always a danger of that , the "Compassionate Buddha " was very aware of that problem. - ray76, Jun 1, 2013

I believe that empathy brings more relief than sympathy.

Empathy requires understanding sympathy does not.

I'm worried about the soldier in the photo, he doesn't seem like a 'proper fighter' in his glasses, and with the little girl in his arms. I think we will need compassion for him in the near future , as well as for the child.

Well let's hope so. Because I sure have a knack for forgiving people when they least deserve it.

Perhaps, It could be called blind faith.

If they "don't deserve it", have you really forgiven them. - 0083f5dc, May 31, 2013
Forgot the( ?). It was bothering me. - 0083f5dc, May 31, 2013
I think that is the whole point. Forgiving no matter what the circumstance. and forgiving doesn't mean forgetting - jessicamccall117, May 31, 2013

I would call it mercy. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Have mercy on people do not judge them and forgive them, that's what mercy is to me. We all need it, no one is perfect.

Compassion opens the door to experience both sides of an event. Negative energy dissipates. Positive energy expands to bring healing. An environment surrounded with healing energies will not provoke sin.
