Dar en el clavo / Dar in el blanco

Question

Hi,

I know I can use this phrases to say something like "I nailed it".

But I also understood I can use it to express that things didn't go well today for instance, something like saying "hoy no doy en el blanco" - "things didn't go well today".

Is that true ? do I use it correctly ?

Tiro al Blanco ........ Target shooting.

In Mexico: "To nail it" ........ "Dar al blanco"

This is an idiom used to express success at a specific task. It would not make sense to use it to express "things didn't go well today". There are various way to indicate a bad day, ie: El día de hoy fue muy pesado / ¡Qué friega el día de hoy! / Hoy fue una pesadilla, etc.

How about something like, La saqué del estadio, for I nailed it.

It may be regional but I haven't heard dar en el clavo or dar en el blanco used like that. To me those sayings mean that someone has just put some important information in a nutshell or stated the main point of something etc.
