Also "You are not in fit shape to play tennis" is fairly common, perhaps not wholly pleonastic. - EugenioCosta, May 28, 2013

¿Quiere decir 'being in shape' en lugar de 'being fit'?

Bueno, en este caso no hay mucha diferencia, los dos pueden referir a la capacidad cardiovascular pero a veces 'to be in shape' refiere más a como se ve una persona mientras que 'being fit' quiere habla solo de como una persona puede realizar actividad física.

Only two words but many different sets of dialectics:

(1) "The suit was a good fit but badly shaped"

(2) "Spade, the typical private dick, was fit enough for someone who chain-smoked Lucky Strikes and breakfasted on bourbon and beer. But under the bravado of the ex-GI who had shivered a few days and nights in a foxhole at Normandy, he was in terrible shape, and knew it."

(3) "Not a fit night for man or beast and shaping up to get worse"

(4) "So, the butler had a daughter and the daughter was his little Miss Clueless. That piece of the puzzle was the right shape but it just didn't fit."

Fit is when you are healthy from doing exercises that increase your heart rate. You might be able to run longer or hike faster than others around you. Shape is what your body looks like. You can still have a good shape and be unhealthy. "In shape" can also mean you have big muscles from weight lifting. If you have a great shape and you are healthy, then you are very lucky.

One can be physically fit,and also be in good shape. Shape has to do with body size,Being fit has to do with physical alertness.

Estoy en muy buena forma, pero siento que mi condición no sirve para corrir un maratón.

I'm in good shape but I'm afraid I'm not fit enough to run in a marathon.

It's almost impossible to be fit without being in good shape, butit's perfectly possible to be in shape without being fit.

That depends on whether they are verbs or nouns.

Shape is like a square, or a circle.

Fit can mean lots of different things:

Being healthy Being the same shape as something else Having convulsions.

It's probably best to look both up in the dictionary and compare what you find for each of them.
