Juntarse Connotations
Today I was trying to translate a song for a elementary school class and one phrase I had to translate needed to use the word "get together". Before it's shown to the students, I wanted to make sure that the phrase "juntarnos" (which I used for "get together") doesn't have any "untoward" or otherwise inappropriate connotations to it.

In case it helps, I was translating the song "The More We Get Together", which, in case anyone doesn't know goes:
The more we get together, together, together,
The more we get together, the happier we'll be.
'Cause your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends,
The more we get together, the happier we'll be.
I translated this as:
Debemos juntarnos, juntarnos, juntarnos
Debemos juntarnos, porque somos amigos
Tus amigos son míos y míos son tuyos,
Debemos juntarnos, porque somos amigos
I know the meaning changed slightly but I think it's close enough to the original.

Juntarnos is very common in Spain
Reunirnos is more common in Latin America
The espression juntarse con has meanings like hang out with, pair up with, in a couple sort of way even meaning moving in with. Perhaps you'll want to avoid it.
"To get together" in the sense of "to meet" or "congregate" can also be translated reunir. The noun "get together" is reunión.
Vamos a reunir a todos los estudiantes porque.. means We're going to get all the students together because...
