Refresco(s) and Food
I´ve been reading up on the word "refresco". It´s my understanding that this word has nothing to do with food and only applies to beverages. Is that right?
Background: My understanding of "refreshments" includes snacks/finger foods, along with beverages. Therefore, I plan, if I´m right about it not pertaining to food, to ignore the "refreshment" translation for this word wherever I see it (and remember it as "soft drink" or "soda" instead).

That is correct.
in spain 'refresco' is any soft fizzy drink and are usually listed on a menu just as refresco and you just ask for a coca cola/fanta etc
I understand it to be soda/carbonated beverage. I think you are right. Perhaps a native speaker will know.
In CR I use "refrescos" and "frescos" for drinks and for snack foods I use "chatarra" junk food and "bocas" and "bocillas" appetizers and the like.
Hi! I was taught that refrescos are soft drinks/soda like coke and Dr.Pepper...
Good question and Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
