Stem Changing Verbs E to IE (como empezar)

empiezo, prefiero, quiero, cierra, enciendo, lo siento, y pienso

(I am beginning, I prefer, I want, It is closing, I am turning it on, I'm sorry, and I am thinking)

Stem Changing Verbs E to I (como repetir)

repito, sirvo, pido, eligo, sirvo

(I am repeating, I am serving, I am asking, I am electing, I am serving

Stem Changing Verbs O to UE (como dormir)

duermo, vuelvo, cuento, juego, almuerzo, cuelgo, duelo, pruebo, vuelo

(I am sleeping, I am returning, I am counting, I am playing, I am having lunch, I am hanging up (clothes), I am hurting, I am trying on, I am flying

Here are most of the categories that have stem changes

verbs ending in -ger or -gir

verbs ending in -guir

verbs ending in -cer or -cir with a consonant preceeding

verbs ending in -cer or -cir with a vowel preceeding

verbs ending in -iar or -uar

verbs ending in -uir(not to be confused with -guir)

Learn these rules plus being able to recognize the irregular verbs.. You'll be able to conjugate 90% of Spanish verbs.

Well, I know one very common stem-changing verb you can add to what you have already listed, and that is poder.
