500 Verbs - Present, Past, Past, Future:

Let's practice Spanish Verbs - Will we make it to 'zurcir'?

500 verbs list to use in order

Remember to:

1. click newest before posting.

Let's keep it simple.

Use the verb in its simplest form:

subject + verb (you may choose any subject but use it consistently):

Post 1 present, 1 past preterit, 1 past imperfect, 1 future.

Use the conjugation tool (blue toolbar - top of page) to learn and check yourself.

Encourage others with a vote for their persistence.

Optional: Use an image if you like to remember the verb's meaning & here's a link for formatting tricks. Use a Vocaroo if you want to practice saying each of them. Add flashcards if you'd like. Vocaroo link for pronunciation practice

Rey, I mean the present tense, the 2 main past tenses (preterit and imperfect) and the future tense. Just practice for 4 often used tenses for beginners. - katydew, May 13, 2013

List 18, Verb 345 Parar - to stop (someone or something)

paramos - we stop, we are stopping
paramos - we stopped
parábamos - we were stopping, used stop, stopped
pararíamos - we would stop
pararemos - we will stop

18.347 - parecer - to seem, to appear (but not in the sense of aparecer)

Irregular in the yo form: c-> zc

The next verb on our list, parecerse, is very common when the subject verbs are used.

Parece un palacio. - It seems like a palace.

Pareció un palacio. - It seemed like a palace.

Parecía un palacio. - It used to seem like a palace.

Parecerá un palacio. - It will seem like a palace.

Parecería un palacio. It would seem like a palace.

List 18, Verb 351 Pasearse - to go for a walk/drive

Alicia se pasea esta noche. Alicia is going for a walk tonight.
Carlos se paseó por el parque la semana pasada. Carlos walked through the park last week.
Ellos paseaba cuando empezó llover. They were walking when it began to rain.
Me paseará en el maratón. I will walk in the marathon.
Nos pasearíamos pero está lloviendo. We would walk, but it is raining.

List 18>352 - pedir - to ask for, to order

Irregular 'boot verb' in the present tense & in the 3ps & 3ppl in the preterit. (e -> i)

Pide. - She orders.

Pidió. - She asked for....

Pedía. - She was asking for...

Pedirá. - She will ask.

Pediría. - She would ask.

List 18.343 - osar - to dare, to venture

I remember this verb in the Yo form because if I did not dare or venture out, I would not be a bear. Oso.... ;o)

Oso. - I dare.

Osé. - I dared.

Osaba. - I was venturing.

Osaré. - I will venture.

Osaría. - I would dare.

oponerse a = to oppose

yo opongo - I pit, am pitting
yo opuse - I pitted
yo oponía - I was pitting, used to pit, pitted
yo opondría - I would pit

irregular verb (like tener)

Él obtiene una licencia de conducir. He obtains a driver's license.

[Regular Verb]

Observo el comportamiento de la gente. I observe people's behavior.
Observé el comportamiento. I observed the behavior.
Observaba el comportamiento. I used to observe the behavior.
Observaría el comportamiento. I would observe the behavior.
Observaré el comportamiento. I will observe the behavior.

List 17, Veb 336 - Ofrecer - to offer

Verbs that end in a vowel + -cer or -cir add z before the c in the yo form.

ofrezco - I offer, am offering
ofrecí - I offered,
ofrecía - I was offering, used to offer, offered
ofreceré - I will offer
ofrecería - I would offer

-ar verb; spelling change: g> gu/e

Ellos navegan ahora mismo. They sail right now.

Ellos navegaron ayer. They sailed yesterday.

Ellos navegaban todo el día. They were sailing all day.

[Regular verb]

Los hombres necesitan trabajar. - The men need to work.
Los hombres necesitaron ayer. - The men needed to work yesterday.
Los hombres necesitaban trabajar cuando... - The men were needing to work when...
Los estudiantes necesitarán estudiar. - The students will need to study.
El estudiante necesitarían llevar un uniforme sí... - The student would need to wear a uniform if....

List 17.328 - negar - to deny

Irregular 'boot verb' in all present forms except nosotros & vosotros (e -> ie) & irregular in the 'yo' preterit form to keep the hard 'g' sound (..ga -> ...gu)

Niego todo. - I deny everthing.

Negué. - I denied everthing .

Negaba. - I was denying everthing all day when...

Negaré. - I will deny everthing.

Negaría. - I would deny everthing.

The irregular conjugations of this verb are in red.

Nieva - It snows.

Nevó - It snowed.

Nevaba - It used to snow.

Nevará - It will snow.

Nevaría - It would snow.

Obedecer is irregular in the present indicative yo form only - obedezco
Click here for the subjunctive and imperative irregulares.

obedece - she obeys
obedeció - she obeyed
obedecía - she was obeying
obedecerá - she will/shall obey

Quería correr desde la araña, pero sus piernas no se obedecían!

She wanted to run from the spider but her legs wouldn't do what she wanted them to do!
