Are you asking how to retain new knowledge? The flashcards on this web-site help a lot. You can go through each list of words and their pictures. Go through the same words over several days. You don't have to take the quiz right away. Also, think of a characteristic of the word that is similar to the English word. Solo means alone, both have o's. Gato has at like cat. Cero is almost like zero. Also, you can watch DVDs in English, but use Spanish subtitles. See how many new words you can recognize each week.
